Zhao Fan
Biography
Zhao Fan is a postdoctoral researcher in the History and Philosophy of Logic and Computation. He works mainly on the development of modern logic and the computer in the first half of the 20th century, focusing on the works of Turing, Gödel, Wittgenstein, and von Neumann. He is also interested in the early history of analytical philosophy, and the history and philosophy of AI. He received his doctorate from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in 2022, under the guidance of Jack Copeland and Diane Proudfoot. He also stayed at Boston University as a Visiting Researcher from 2017-8, and at the University of Zurich as a Research Guest in 2019. For 2022.11-2024.10, he is on leave as a fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science hosted by Kobe University.
