Ovidiu Babes

Ovidiu Babeș defended his PhD in 2022 at the University of Bucharest with a dissertation on Descartes and mixed-mathematics. He is interested in the role(s) which mathematics plays in the natural philosophical practice of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. More generally, his research deals with early modern philosophy and science. Within the RENEW 18 project, Ovidiu is currently investigating the anti-Newtonian philosophy of Robert Greene (c. 1678–1730).
