Biography
Bianca Burani is a PhD student in Philosophy and Moral Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Steffen Ducheyne, focusing specifically on Anti-Newtonianism in Italy.
The research project aims to deepen the knowledge on this phenomenon through the study of the Anti-Newtonian Celestino Cominale, author of a series of volumes in which he explicitly criticised Newton’s theories and ideas.
A physicist, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2021) and her Master's Degree at the University of Bologna (2023), specialising in History of Physics and Physics Education.
Her other interests in the history of physics include the development of optical techniques in the seventeenth century and the exploration of rather unknown authors from the same period of time, together with the scientific contributions of the Italian intellectual Carlo Antonio Manzini.
